When passing nil, no value attribute is added to the select option which results in the browser serializing the select field with the label as the value. However, when testing an existing query where the project is no longer existing (deleted, e.g.,), the filter validation will try to access `values`, which in this case runs into a nil project. Resolves performance for large number of users when opening autocompleter by reducing default set of values until filtered. With this, performance is bearable on community.
